C. Joseph Vijay Sworn In as Chief Minister: A Historic Moment in Tamil Nadu

Actor-turned-politician C. Joseph Vijay, the leader of the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) party, has officially taken his oath as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu.

The Swearing-In Ceremony The historic event took place at the Raj Bhavan in Chennai. Governor RN Ravi administered the oath of office and secrecy to Vijay, who was dressed in a simple white shirt and dhoti.

Key Promises in the Official Oath During the ceremony, Vijay recited a traditional oath, promising to:

  • Remain loyal and faithful to the Constitution of India.
  • Protect the sovereignty and integrity of the nation.
  • Perform his duties faithfully and with a clear conscience.
  • Treat all citizens equally and fairly, without fear, favoritism, or ill will.

Political Background Vijay launched his political party, TVK, in February 2024. After a successful campaign, his party won a majority of seats in the recent 2026 Assembly Elections, leading to this significant change in the state’s leadership.

Public Celebration The ceremony was attended by several high-profile guests, and large crowds of supporters gathered outside to celebrate. Following the oath-taking, the new Chief Minister traveled to the Secretariat at Fort St. George to officially begin his duties. Fans and party workers across the state marked the occasion with grand celebrations, welcoming what they call a “new era” for Tamil Nadu.
