Amazon has announced that its two streaming services, Amazon MX Player and Prime Video, are joining together. Soon, users will be able to find everything in one place.
What is Changing?
- One App: The MX Player app on iPhones, smart TVs, and websites will eventually send users to the Prime Video app.
- More Choices: Prime Video will now offer both free shows (with ads) and paid content (without ads) all in the same app.
- Branding: MX Player will get a new look and name as it becomes part of the Prime Video family.

Why the Change?
Amazon says this move makes Prime Video a “one-stop shop” for entertainment. By combining both services, they can offer a much larger collection of movies and shows to everyone in the country.
Background
In 2024, Amazon bought parts of MX Player and combined them with “Amazon miniTV” to create Amazon MX Player. Now, they are taking the final step to put all their streaming content under the Prime Video brand. Over the next few months, users will see these changes happen across their devices.
