The hit Malayalam survival thriller Manjummel Boys became a massive blockbuster, but fans hoping for a sequel or a remake will be disappointed. Director Chidambaram, who also directed Balan: The Boy, has officially turned down offers for both a Hindi remake and a sequel (Manjummel Boys 2).

Why No Hindi Remake?
Despite receiving very tempting financial offers, Chidambaram decided against remaking the movie in Hindi.
- Already Dubbed: He noted that Manjummel Boys is already available with Hindi dubbing, so remaking it is unnecessary.
- Honesty in Filmmaking: He explained that a remake would lose its original honesty and that his core convictions held him back from accepting the offers.
Why No Sequel (Manjummel Boys 2)?
Producers also asked Chidambaram about expanding the story into a film universe, but he firmly rejected the idea of a sequel.
- Based on Real Events: He emphasized that the true magic and appeal of Manjummel Boys come from the fact that it is based on a real-life incident. A fictional story would not carry the same emotion or appeal.
- Protecting the Characters: Chidambaram jokingly pointed out how unfair a sequel would be to the characters, asking: “Why are we so cruel? These boys need to go again and fall somewhere. Go through that. Only then will Manjummel Boys 2 happen.”
Ultimately, Chidambaram chose to respect the original real-life story over capitalizing on commercial sequel offers.
