As fans excitedly wait for the teaser launch of actor Vijay Deverakonda’s upcoming film Ranabaali on September 9, an interesting story about one of his forgotten movies has resurfaced.
During a pre-release event for the film Sardar 2, producer Y. Ravi Shankar from Mythri Movie Makers shared a memory about a project called Hero. He revealed that the team had actually shot part of this sports action drama in 2019 before it was stopped and put on hold.
What Was Hero About?
Hero was officially launched in May 2019 with a lot of excitement.
- Director: Anand Annamalai
- Lead Actor: Vijay Deverakonda (playing the role of a professional biker)
- Female Lead: Malavika Mohanan
- Production House: Mythri Movie Makers
The project created significant buzz because it was a full-fledged sports-action story. However, after completing one shooting schedule, the project quietly stopped.
Why Is it Making Headlines Again?
Unlike many movies that are announced but never started, Hero had already spent money and time filming actual scenes. Vijay Deverakonda had mentioned earlier that the movie required additional preparation time, though it ultimately never was finished.
The story came back into discussion because producer Y. Ravi Shankar brought it up at the event for Sardar 2, which features Malavika Mohanan.
The Connection to Mythri Movie Makers
The production banner Mythri Movie Makers has a strong history of working with Vijay Deverakonda. They previously backed his hit films Dear Comrade and Khushi, and are currently producing his upcoming project Ranabaali, which is directed by Rahul Sankrityan.
For fans, the memory of Hero is a fascinating reminder of an ambitious sports drama that came very close to the big screen but never got completed.
