An official announcement has confirmed that star actress Rashmika Mandanna will portray the legendary Carnatic singer M.S. Subbulakshmi in an upcoming biographical film. The project has officially been titled M.S. – A Legacy on Screen.

Grand Launch and Special Event
The film will have its grand launch ceremony on September 16 in Chennai, timed to coincide with the birth anniversary of M.S. Subbulakshmi.

- Musical Tribute: The Indian Choral Ensemble will perform a live musical tribute featuring some of M.S. Subbulakshmi’s most iconic songs.
Pre-Production and Look Test
Before the official announcement, reports revealed that a screen test and look test were conducted at Rashmika Mandanna’s residence. Renowned costume designer Neeraja Kona created custom outfits specifically for the test.
Portraying the Bharat Ratna awardee is considered one of the most prestigious and challenging roles in Rashmika’s career. Beyond her stature as a world-renowned Carnatic vocalist, M.S. Subbulakshmi also had a notable journey in cinema, starring in classic films such as Sevasadanam, Sakuntalai, Savithiri, and Meera.
