Arjith Shankar, the son of the famous filmmaker S. Shankar, has officially entered the world of movies. He is making his acting debut in a new film titled ‘Lover Boy’.
To kick off the movie’s production, the team held a traditional pooja ceremony to wish the project success.

About the Movie and Cast
‘Lover Boy’ is described as a romantic drama. It is being directed by Ashok Kumar, who is making his own directorial debut after previously working as an assistant to the well-known filmmaker Atlee.
Arjith Shankar will play the lead role opposite Telugu actress Krithi Shetty, who recently starred in Pradeep Ranganathan’s movie ‘LIK’.
Stars Attend the Launch
The launch ceremony was a star-studded event. Several popular filmmakers and industry personalities came out to show their support, including:
- H. Vinoth (Director)
- A. R. Murugadoss (Director)
- Jason Sanjay (Director)
- Madhan (Producer)
The movie will also feature music by composer Thejas Krishna, marking his very first project in the Tamil film industry.
Excitement on Social Media
The production team officially announced the film online, writing that it is “an auspicious start to a journey filled with love, laughter, and rosy beginnings.”
Following the announcement, Arjith’s father, S. Shankar, shared photos from the ceremony on his social media pages. Fans quickly flooded the comment section with excitement. One user wrote, “Best wishes To the Entire team of Lover boy Blockbuster loading…” while another suggested that Shankar should write a story for his son in the future, noting that Arjith looks very promising.
What is Director S. Shankar Up To?
While his son begins his acting journey, veteran director S. Shankar has been busy with his own massive projects. He recently directed the Telugu political action film Game Changer (2025), starring Ram Charan and Kiara Advani, as well as the Kamal Haasan starrer Indian 2 (2024). Both films received mixed reviews from audiences and critics.
Rumors suggest that Shankar is currently planning a fast-paced thriller movie with a young hero. This project might happen before his highly anticipated film Velpari, which is written by Su. Venkatesan.
